Why funeral prevention?
Talking about your own funeral wishes is difficult. But in the case of a death, it is a relief for grieving relatives to know what to do.
With a funeral insurance contract that you conclude while you are still alive, you can relieve your relatives of the burden and at the same time ensure that your funeral is covered according to your personal wishes.
Advantages of funeral prevention
There are many benefits to taking precautions.
As part of a funeral preventions contract, you can specify all the details of your funeral if you wish. This can include the type of burial (e.g. burial in the ground, cremation or at sea), the location of the burial, the design of the funeral ceremony and the selection of products such as coffin and urn. The contract can be very comprehensive and declared to be testamentary, or it can leave room for the wishes of the surviving relatives – just as you wish.
Financial and emotional security
Since January 2004, health insurance companies no longer provide funeral benefits. In accordance with legal requirements, your remaining relatives must therefore cover the costs of the funeral. This can even be the case if they refuse the inheritance.
For financial security, we can offer you a deposit with Deutsche Bestattungsvorsorge Treuhand AG or funeral insurance through our partnership with the Federal Association of German Funeral Directors.
Of course, you can also use an existing or new funeral insurance policy from another insurance company of your choice to cover your funeral expenses. We would be happy to explain the individual advantages and disadvantages of the various options to you in a personal arrangements discussion.
Funeral insurance
You can cover your funeral expenses with funeral insurance. You usually pay a monthly or quarterly premium, but a one-off payment is also possible. In the case of death, the agreed sum insured is then paid out to cover the funeral costs.
With our partner Nürnberger Versicherung, we can offer you a funeral insurance policy that matches your funeral arrangements if you wish. Alternatively, you can also bring an existing funeral insurance policy, even from any other insurance company, to cover the funeral costs. We would be happy to advise you on the advantages and disadvantages of funeral insurance.
German Funeral Prevention Trust stock corporation
If you would like to make a one-off payment to cover your funeral costs, a deposit with Deutsche Bestattungsvorsorge Treuhand AG is often a good option. You can conclude a corresponding trust agreement through us at any time. The money is then held securely, independent of our operating assets and with default guarantees from well-known financial institutions. In the case of death, we can then easily access this to cover the funeral costs. Incidentally, there is another advantage to securing your funeral provision through Deutsche Bestattungsvorsorge Treuhand AG: If a death occurs, for example, while you are on holiday abroad, the trust will cover the additional costs of repatriating the deceased. Good to know:
Financial protection of an appropriate amount through funeral insurance or through a deposit with Deutsche Bestattungsvorsorge Treuhand AG is also secure if you find yourself in a situation where you have to claim transfer payments from the social welfare office, for example for care. Your funeral arrangements will then remain unaffected. If required, you can even receive free legal advice on this if you concluded the insurance or trust account through us.
